Elizabeth Partridge is the granddaughter of Imogen Cunningham, and the goddaughter of Dorothea Lange. When her father, Ron Partridge, decided at seventeen to become a photographer, his mother, Imogen Cunningham, sent him to work with their 'family friend,' Dorothea Lange. Elizabeth grew up in this extended, artistic family. She is an award-winning author of numerous books for children and young adults, as well two books of adult nonfiction, including Dorothea Lange: A Visual Life (Smithsonian University Press, 1993). With her sister, Meg Partridge, she also produced the companion film, Dorothea Lange: A Visual Life.
