Fashion & Jewellery

This book is an exciting step back in time to when Manner Vogue was Germanys leading mens fashion magazine. During Manner Vogues golden age between 1984 and 1989, Swiss-born Beda Achermann was the magazines creative director and left his iconic style on a generation of graphic designers, typographers, photographers, fashion journalists and stylists. Commissioning young photographers like Mario Testino, Ellen von Unwerth and Max Vadukul, along with established talents including Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh and Helmut Newton, Achermann set a new benchmark in fashion editorial. Big Time is a retrospective of Achermanns groundbreaking work for Manner Vogue, showing the magazines best spreads which have lost none of their modernity and flair. The book comprises three chapters Big Style (fashion), Big Shots (features and portraits) and Big Bang (portfolios) which together recreate a unique period in fashion history when international glamour was made in Germany. Highlights in Beda Achermanns career include positions as creative director at Manner Vogue in Munich and Donna in Milan. In 1990, he founded the acclaimed Studio Achermann in Zurich, which combines art in all its forms with advertising and other commercial projects.
