Since its inception in 2003, IDEA (Interior Design of Excellence Awards) has been celebrating the very best of an industry full of remarkable people and projects. This year, for the first time, we are publishing a book to celebrate the high quality of projects of the past year, the ones that have continually risen above the crowd to surprise and delight us. Showcasing projects personally selected by (inside) magazine's editors, Jan Henderson and Gillian Serisier, this 400-page, limited edition hardback book will sit high and proud on any bookshelf, desk or coffee table. Designed with sweeping, generous proportions, its imagery and design insights will captivate anyone interested in leading Australian architecture and interior design. The LIVE, WORK and CONNECT chapters will showcase the best Residential (multi- and single-), Workplaces, Hospitality and Public Spaces. What makes this book unique? Life Spaces not only features stunning houses and their interiors, which is a well trodden path, they also feature interiors of great locations where you can actually visit. It makes this a more achievable experience, instead of being totally voyeuristic.
We wanted to showcase places where readers would be able to go and gain a further appreciation of the design and architecture. Whether this is a favourite bar, cafe, or restaurant, or standing in the middle of a grand new public space. Life Spaces aims to immerse the reader in these extraordinary interior designs. The book contains details on how they responded to a client's brief and also features some insightful plans that provides both practical insights and wondrous inspiration.
