Maggie Alderson was born in London, brought up in Staffordshire and educated at the University of St Andrews. She has worked on two newspapers and nine magazines editing four of them and contributed to many more. She is married, with one daughter, and lives by the sea. She has written six novels and this is her fourth collection of journalism.
